The Children from the North Conway Day Care are starting a partnership with the Gibson Center. They will visit twice a month. They will start by listening to a few stories, then they will sing a couple songs, after which they will visit with the people in the Dining Room. If you like children, they will arrive at the Gibson Center at 10:45 on set days. Check the calendar for future visits.

The Gibson Center celebrated Blueberry Week. We had a discussion group that talked about blueberries, their benefits and peoples favorite recipes. Al Rich, from the Orgasmic Blueberry Farm invited us to pick blueberries. Chef Rick made a blueberry parfait for lunch on Thursday, and on Friday we made hand cranked blueberry ice cream. What a Yummy week.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the Gibson Center Bus picked people up and took them to Harrison, for Back to the Past, a fundraiser for the Scribner Mill Preservation Society. The society is trying to restore the mill, so that people who do historic renovations can have lumber milled in a traditional manner. In addition to the mill, there are several other displays. The Blacksmith shop, and the Homestead are open for tours. Coopers, chair caners, weavers, tatters, spinners, and canvas rug painters demonstrated their crafts. There were old vehicles, tractors, fire engines, steam engines, and a railbus that actually took people for a short ride. We finished the day with a delicious pig roast.

Every year the Ossipee Rotary Club takes people for pontoon boat rides on Ossipee Lake. They raise money for their Scholarship Program. This year the weather held, and we had a nice ride. There are narrators on the boats, who offer history, geologic information and keep the trip lively. Afterwards we had a picnic lunch. We then went to Freedom Old Home Week, where we toured the craft booths and had ice cream sundaes.

The Gibson Center Bus traveled to Portland to watch a Base Ball game. The Portland SeaDogs battled the Harrisburg Senators. We enjoyed the ballpark food, the games and contests, and the perfect weather. We were all cheering when the SeaDogs scored a home run in the bottom of the nineth.
