The Gibson Bus traveled to Cape Elizabeth in Maine. We had fresh seafood at the Lobster Shack Restaurant. Then we spend some time at the Two Lights State Park. The weather was so clear that we could clearly see the islands across the bay. In the park we walked the trails, listened to the surf, sat in the warm sun, and watched the butterflys and dragon flys. The park has information kiosks that discribe the flora and fauna, the geology and the history of the area.

The U.S.Army's Spirit of America performed in the tradition of both a military review and a large-scarle theatrical production. It taught history, common values, and American musical heritage. With special guests, "Pershing's Own", the Army Drill Team, the Caisson Platoon, and the Fife and Drum Corps, the people were enlightened and inspired by our common history. The progam was moving, as well as funny, such as the precision broom team that sweept the audience into laughter. People thrilled as army members rappelled out of the rafters of the arena, and people were teary eyed as they and their family members were recognised for their service to our Country. Afterwards we had lunch at Bugaboo Creek Restaurant.

These hand carved wooden statues graced the Gibson Center Dining Room for years. They were donated as a fundraiser. The highest bidder took the statues home in time for Halloween. Thanks to all who expressed interest in these statues.

The Gibson bus headed north through Pinkham Notch. The afternoon sunlight made the colors spectacular. We had dinner at the Northland Dairy Bar...and most of us had dessert, YUM. Then we boarded the bus for the guided tour. Our tour guide, Sarah, was entertaining and educational. We saw a beautiful cow moose, we could tell by the light patch of fur on her rump.

The Gibson Center hosted a Legislative Update. The Senators and Representatives whose constiuants make up the area served by the Gibson Center were invited to the event. Each legislator was given ten minutes to use as he or she wished. People talked about what was accomplished last year, what people hoped to accomplish this coming year, and some left time to answer question. It was interesting to listen to the different takes people had on the same issues. It was also educational to find out what the freshman year was like. All speakers thanked the people who voted them into office.
